School Fundraising: a New Approach

School Fundraising:  a New Approach

Sub-Sisters, a new fundraising service based in Santa Cruz, California; announces a new, innovative fundraising opportunity for schools nationwide.  Sub-Sisters’ free service provides a custom configured Amazon School Store selling the full range of Amazon products.  Setup is easy because the store is hosted on the Sub-Sisters.com website using Amazon.com’s secure, encrypted shopping cart and checkout.

Schools are invited to compile a “wish list” of items that the school needs which will be prominently displayed in an “Items the School Needs” category.

There is no charge for this service.  All the school needs to do is to let parents and boosters know that every Amazon.com purchase they make through the School’s Amazon store will generate a commission of which 50% goes to the school. In addition, 50% of third party advertising revenues will be split with the school.

School officials and parents are encouraged to visit www.sub-sisters.com to learn more about the Sub-Sisters’ Program and to enroll their school.

Longevity and Intelligent Design

This is the first in a series of blogs that will explore super longevity, human evolution, and Intelligent Design.

Will people routinely live to be 150, 200, 250+ years old?  There are indications of new approaches that forecast dramatic increases in human longevity.

Will we finally understand the origin of life?  Living cells are made up of complex machines that can be programmed by operators.

It makes sense that decoding the authorship of our genetic code will lead to a better understanding of what works and fails (survivorship-wise) in the processing of information by cell factory systems.  Here we will explore the emerging connections between cosmogony, particle physics, and cell biology.

Our understanding of the fundamental concepts of time, energy, matter and human evolution are changing rapidly in step with the on-going exponential increase in computing power.  In the past scientists have looked at matter and energy as carriers of information.  Now we see that arguments can be made that they are information.

“Rebooting the Cosmos: Is the Universe the Ultimate Computer?” is a video of a knowledgeable panel of scientist discussing a new theory of information at the World Science Festival.

The premise is that all matter can be thought of in terms of information.  Not just represented by information, but fabricated from and constructed of information.  Physics today is a fascinating field with the quest for the Higgs Bosun and advances in string theory and gravitation and the new paradigm of the origin of the universe in cosmogony—all fueled by advances in information theory.

“A Thin Sheet of Reality: The Universe as a Hologram” is another video from the World Science Festival that presents exciting new ideas in cosmology.

However, Intelligent Design proponents propose that the long established Dawinian concept of evolution through natural selection is insufficient to explain the origin of life itself and are searching for alternative explanations for the “irreducible complexity” of cell systems as described by Michael J. Behe in his two important books, The Edge of Evolution and Darwins Black Box and by Stephen C. Meyer in his seminal Signature in the Cell which are available on Amazon.
ID proponents point to the remarkable process  metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly as an example of an incredibly complex sequence of events that lack intermediary steps with selective value.  This video by Illustra Media briefly describes the process.

We have just begun to set the foundation upon which super longevity, evolution and Intelligent Design interact.  More to come...

DIY Leg Mother Bench that Warms the Legs and the Heart

As people move forward in time, parts of our biological machinery need servicing and repair—most likely due to faults in cellular information coding. The fact that we can repair, refine and improve the biological code is the premise that underlies my concept of a "New-Human."     Simply speaking, a "New-Human" is anyone open to or who embraces the concept of dramatic longevity enhancement—preferably through holistic healing processes followed by intrusive technological fixes only if absolutely necessary. Here is a real life example.

A couple of months back, I over-trained and strained one of my Achilles tendons. This has been a painful injury that could have lead to severed tendon if not treated. But as of now, I am definitely on the road to recovery which I credit to two self-help methods that I will share with you here.

Method 1. Leg Mother Bench that Warms the Legs and the Heart

I invented this do-it-yourself project that allows you to apply intense, moist heat while you work or surf the web.  It is like sitting next to a warm campfire right at your desk or at home watching the bowl games.

Features
  • Intense therapeutic moist heat and comfortable leg rest.
  • Fits right under your workstation desk or table leaving room for your legs to move around.
  • Approximate dimension with pillow and heating pad--width 24", depth 18", height 20"—(pillows and cases overhang base by a couple of inches).
  • Easy to carry (weighs less than 30 pounds) and readily fits into your car's back seat or trunk allowing practitioners to take it along on office or home calls.
  • Easy to position, rolls on casters, two of which are lockable.
  • Also works as an easy-to-move, relaxing leg and foot rest with the heat off.
  • Elevates your feet and legs which is great for promoting circulation.
  •  Includes stand, high, penetrating heat pad, and luxurious down pillow.
  • You can conveniently store the pad in the base when not in use.
  • Pad can also be positioned on your lap, making a cold office comfortable (no more fighting over the thermostat settings).

Ordering the components is easy on the Web.

You can make your own custom Leg Mother for less than $225.  Here’s how. (link)

If you make one please send me pictures and comments to post here. (link)

Method 2  Pro-Tec Achilles Tendon Strap

This is a deceptively simple device that works wonders.  The strap takes the pressure off of the tendon when exercising so the tendon has a chance to self-heal.  It sports an elegant, yet simple design and is made of tough material.  I remove the strap or loosen it when not exercising to promote circulation.  You can buy it direct from Amazon.

The Leg Mother combined with the Pro-Tec are great tools to handle a pulled Achilles.

However, just using the Leg Mother daily will increase your circulation and well being.

Carrier IQ

It seems like only yesterday that I was posing questions about the social impacts of Omniscient GPS and now we find out today, that the horse has already left the barn!  Our social fabric has been Big Brotherized and we didn’t even know it until after an independent security analyst, Dan Rosbenberg, reverse engineered a program used by many major cell service providers.

Just like the lions in Kenya tagged with text messaging collars, our pockets have been carrying around devices taking down a lot more information about our lives than most of would like.  The story on CNNMoney is worth a read.

First visitor to New-Humans, Incorporeal

Talk about the information explosion of Omniscient GPS taking off, within a very few minutes of pinging the blog article just  posted below, I received my very first bona-fide visitor—Research in Motion.

Aren’t they a leader in GPS tech?

So the information that I conveyed from my mind though my keyboard to my server to my ISP’s server then broadcast in a cloud of electrons protons and photons (0's and 1's) radiating from the earth mostly as lost entropy but some were captured by traps baited with keywords.

So, I am taking this as a good omen for the future of New-Humans, Incorporeal.  Thank you R.I.M!

Omniscient-GPS: Privacy in the New-Human Era

This CNN 'What's Next' article describes a technology application breakthrough helping population biologists studying lions in Kenya to know the location of study animals using a newly developed collar that sends GPS locations via text messages on on an hourly basis.

Instead of acquiring GPS info via radio signals--which requires extensive hit and miss field work--data is automatically e-mailed via wireless networks and posted to an open-source satellite map.

How does this apply to humans?  What would be the social, moral, economic impacts if every child, woman and man wore a bracelet or had an implant that relayed their exact location, 24 hours per day.  Parents would rest easier knowing where there children are playing and children, mates and supervisors would know where you are at all times.  How would this affect crime rates if the suspect's story doesn't jibe with their GPS track.  Could "Omniscient-GPS" be incorporated as a safety feature for divers, drivers and pilots?

Will New-Humans accept the advantages of Omniscient GPS or will privacy concerns make this at most an elective or user-controlled procedure.

Will New-Humans even have a choice, or will they be implanted at birth?  The prospects of this debate taking place are so strong, I can almost see the TV commercials of political candidates embracing or dissing Omniscient-GPS.

And there is natural selection, will Omniscient GPS convey a survival advantage to New-Humans or offer a new vulnerability that makes them less fit?

Old-Humans vs New-Machinas

In a prelude to the conflicts that are sure to arise as new developments in technology enable New-Machinas to out compete Old-Humans, a robot guided by a smart phone is able to solve a Rubik's cube faster than the fastest human.
